From the moment he started climbing Graham Hoey was interested in the development of climbing in the Peak District. From the age of sixteen he went from inserting new routes into existing climbing guides to writing his own mini-guides before joining the British Mountaineering Council's guidebook committee for twenty years. In researching for Peak District Gritstone Graham did over 180 visits to the area and climbed over 1,300 of the routes to ensure the guide would be as accurate and up to date as possible. The finished guide contains detailed descriptions of almost 2,200 of the best and most easily accessible gritstone climbs in the Peak District across the full grade range.

To accompany the guide Graham has put together a selection of bonus material to highlight crags and routes that are particularly suitable for beginners, routes to help climbers move on between grades and the best routes from each climbing genre: arêtes, cracks, roofs, walls and slabs.
