Freedom Climbers by Bernadette McDonald and The Wild Within by Simon Yates available now from Vertebrate Publishing

We're delighted to announce that our first two new books for 2012, The Wild Within by Simon Yates and Freedom Climbers by Bernadette McDonald, are now officially available.

We secured a deal in 2011 to bring Freedom Climbers to the UK. One of the most important mountaineering books for several years, it scooped both the Grand Prize at the Banff Mountain Book Festival and then the Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature - not many books have won both these prizes.

Freedom Climbers is available now in trade paperback and ebook. Read an exclusive excerpt on UKClimbing.com and read Ed Douglas's review on UKClimbing.com, published today.

The Wild Within is the third book from British mountaineer and adventurer Simon Yates. In The Wild Within Simon recounts tales of first ascents of remote peaks in the Cordillera Darwin range in South America, and the Wrangell-St Elias ranges on the Alaska-Yukon border. Through the book Simon comments on the changes to the mountain wilderness and the advance of modern communications technology into the wild. He also grapples with his new role as a family man, and a film star – appearing in the adaptation of Joe Simpson's Touching the Void

The Wild Within is available in hardback and signed copies are available direct from Vertebrate. It will be available very shortly in ebook formats.
