Sea, Ice and Rock, a memoir by legendary adventurers Sir Chris Bonington and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, has been released in ebook format.
The collaborative memoir recounts their 1990 expedition to Greenland’s previously unexplored Lemon Mountain Range, which culminated in two attempts of the range’s highest peak, the Cathedral. Though Bonington is one of the first two Britons to reach the summit of Everest, and Knox-Johnston the first person to make a solo circumnavigation of the world, neither had experience in the other’s field. Sea, Ice and Rock is the story of the expedition which placed both of them firmly out of their comfort zones.
Commenting on the release of the ebook, Bonington said ‘It’s been over twenty-five years since Sea, Ice and Rock was published in hardback, and I’m delighted to see it brought to life again as an ebook. My expedition with Robin to Greenland was one of the best adventures I have ever had – both he and I had next to no experience in the other’s field. Reaching the Cathedral, let alone climbing it, was no easy feat – it was a real collaborative effort, which I believe comes across in the book. It was so enjoyable and fulfilling writing Sea, Ice and Rock with Robin, and looking back over the expedition which built the foundation of a life-long friendship. I hope its digital publication means readers old and new can share in our brilliant trip.’
Sea, Ice and Rock is now available to purchase as an ebook on Kindle, Kobo, iTunes and Google Play.
