Millrace Climbing and Walking books to join Bâton Wicks List
- Tuesday 25th February 2014
Vertebrate Publishing has bought the existing stock and all publishing rights to the much-loved walking and climbing books from the well respected publishing house Millrace Books.
Born on the edge of the English Peak District, Millrace Outdoor books are distinctive for their format and the lively and sometimes eccentric writing. The books are characterised by their beautiful and traditional hardback construction and fine dust jackets, while the writing is rather literary and full of ideas and dry humour. These are books you want to keep.
Highlights in a fine list of books must be Central Buttress of Scafell, a series of historical essays on this most famous of climbs; The Riddle of Sphinx Rock, an exploration of the majestic Great Gable; and the lively Macc and Other Islands, a look into some of those lesser-known British Islands.
