Ed Douglas and Jon Griffith longlisted for Banff Mountain Book Competition 2015
Monday, 21st September 2015
Big congratulations to our authors Sandy Allan and John Porter whose books have been shortlisted for the 2015 Boardman Tasker Prize for Mountain Literature. In Some Lost Place and One Day As A Tiger are among five titles on this year's shortlist.
The Boardman Tasker Prize, which was established in 1983, commemorates the lives of Peter Boardman and Joe Tasker – outstanding mountaineers and accomplished authors – who disappeared together high on Everest in 1982. It is given to the author or co-authors of an original work that has made an outstanding contribution to mountain literature.
In Some Lost Place by Sandy Allan and One Day As A Tiger by John Porter reveal the stories behind some of the world’s most celebrated climbs and climbers. This is the sixth year that a Vertebrate title has made the Boardman Tasker shortlist, with two of our books having previously won the prize: Ron Fawcett’s Rock Athlete in 2010 and Andy Kirkpatrick’s Cold Wars in 2012. The other titles shortlisted for the 2015 prize are Snowblind by Daniel Arnold (Counterpoint Press), The Calling by Barry Blanchard (Patagonia Press), and Cold Feet by David Pagel (privately published).
This year’s winner will be announced during a special ceremony at the Kendal Mountain Festival, which takes place on 19 - 22 November.
