Nepal earthquake appeal

Our thoughts are with all those affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal. You'll find some useful pointers about ways in which you can help on the BMC website, plus details of recommended smaller charities working alongside mountain communities.

Vertebrate author Gerda Pauler will be donating 100% of royalties from the sale of her book Great Himalaya Trail to relief efforts for the foreseeable future and, throughout May, Mike Trueman will be donating all royalties from his new book The Storms, as will Dave Barter from his book Great British Bike Rides. Vertebrate and our distributor, Cordee, will be making a substantial contribution to the appeal from May's sales of these books.

Other Vertebrate and Baton Wicks authors are providing help by sending money and equipment to aid rescue efforts. John Porter, Chris Bonnington and Doug Scott have rallied together to supply sleeping bags, tents, kit bags, tents and tarpaulins, which are being flown out to Nepal by the Gurkhas.

Thank you to all who have offered their generous support.
