Sarah Mussi at Newark and Arnold in Nottinghamshire

  • Monday 29 February 2016

Monday 29 February
Sarah Mussi at Newark and Arnold Libraries
Arnold Library, Front Street, Arnold, Nottingham NG5 7EE
Newark Library, Beaumond Gardens, Baldertongate, Newark NG24 1UW

Sarah Mussi will be hosting a creative-writing workshop, as part of her new literacy programme, The Snowdonia Reading Challenge. Based around Sarah’s latest book, Here Be Dragons, the scheme has been designed to develop literacy and creative writing skills in young people aged nine to fourteen years old.

She will explore the key themes that were the inspiration behind her book Here Be Dragons: myth, magic and mystery. Her talk will cover the fact and the fiction behind the legends surrounding the dragons of Wales and the tales of Merlin. It will give young people a unique insight into the mythology of Snowdonia as Sarah shares her lifetime’s passion for all things magical and mysterious. The workshop will help pupils to build their creative writing skills while encouraging them to learn more about standing stones, mythical monsters and local legends. Sarah’s talk will also explore some of Wales’s most important archaeological sites, including Segontium and Tre’r Ceiri.
