Our collaboration with Burgtec, the Bikes and Bits gift box, is the perfect way to discover more of the Peak District on two wheels. Featuring two comprehensive mountain biking guides from our very own Jon Barton, both are much-loved guides to the area's best trails. Peak District Mountain Biking – Dark Peak Trails, described by Bikemagic.com as 'far and away the best Peak guide we’ve come across', features twenty-six of the best mountain bike rides in the Dark Peak, between 11.5 and 105 (!) kilometres in length, suitable for all levels of mountain bikers. White Peak Mountain Biking – The Pure Trails allows you to clatter down tricky limestone descents and cruise along easy cyclepaths in twenty-four of the White Peak's highlights, including Bakewell, Matlock, Macclesfield Forest and Buxton, as well as the Dark Peak in the Hope Valley. Both books feature Ordnance Survey 1:50,000 maps, easy-to-follow directions and details of distance, timings and difficulty. They also include a Bonus Section listing top ten climbs, descents and singletracks and a detailed Appendix. This gift box includes all the bits you need for your next adventure, including a Burgtec mudguard, top cap and bolt, as well as two Be Nice Say Hi beer mats and one Be Nice Say Hi sticker.
*Each gift box will be gift wrapped. If you would like to include a personalised message, please indicate this in the special notes section at checkout.
Jon Barton lives in Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District, with his wife, young son and novelty show dog. Having ridden and climbed in the area for almost 20 years his knowledge of the Peak, and particularly the Hope Valley, is enviable. After the shackles of fame that came with authoring the original Dark Peak Mountain Biking guidebook, Jon had to improve his MTB skills somewhat. Now proficient at singletrack, and merely nervous of descents, his ambition still remains to clean the notorious climb up Gores Heights (Lockerbrook). Catch him there most weekends for book signings. Don’t be put off by the blue language, or his disproportionately large calves, he’s really approachable and surprisingly down to earth.
