Ron reaches the Summit
- Monday 22nd March 2010
The new issue of the British Mountaineering Council's (BMC) Summit Magazine dropped through the letterbox this morning, and this issue features an extended That's Me article by Niall Grimes. Arguably one of the best regular mini articles in the climbing press at the moment, this issue's That's Me features our very own Ron Fawcett and is renamed That's Ron in his honour.
The feedback we've had so far on Ron's book Rock Athlete has been terrific – the British climbing public are very fond of Ron and respect the impact his climbs has had on the development of rock climbing in the UK. Relatively speaking, Ron's routes might not compete with the top grades flying around at the moment, but some of them have fearsome reputations, and the likes of Strawberries at Tremadog sees very few ascents, and it's still yet to see a British on-sight or flash ascent.
Here's a choice excerpt from the Summit article:
Come on arms, do your stuff?
They'll be chanting that as they're pushing me up the hill in my box.
