‘I like his photographs, I really like the house he built for us. I like what he is doing, and the other tribes seem to like him as well. He bumbles along a bit, living the village life, but we’ve had worse tenants. Maybe you’ll like his book, it’s even got a few pictures of me in it. And to think I don’t even know his real name, we just call him Villager Jim.’– From the forward by Deidre Bluetit.

Daubed the ‘Banksy of the photography world’, Villager Jim has earned a substantial following from his beautiful, humorous photography and the mystery surrounding his identity. His book, Villager Jim’s Peak District, captures Europe’s busiest national park in a new light, revealing its quieter, gentler side and introducing us to the wildlife on his doorstep that he calls his friends. His photographs are frequently featured on the BBC’s Springwatch and Autumnwatch, and have been selected as Editor’s Choice at the British Wildlife Photography Awards. Take a look at some stunning samples from the book below.

When you purchase a copy of Villager Jim’s Peak District this month, we’ll give you a free copy of Barry Payling’s Wild Britain – a portfolio from one of a unique band of photographers who capture their images without filters, autofocus or digital enhancement, but exactly as they were seen through the camera lens.
