Following the Grand Depart’s three-day meander over the Yorkshire countryside this weekend – which saw cyclists ride through seaside Bridlington to the city of Sheffield – we’re offering a free route download from Cycling in the Peak District, by local riders Tom Fenton and Jon Barton, to highlight some of the excellent riding on offer nearby in the Peak District.
This guide features eighteen leisurely cycle trails for mountain bikers and families of between nine and twenty-three kilometres in length and promises quiet off-road trails in the Peak District for those who value good views and fun over aching legs and grimaces.
The route we’ve chosen runs along the Ladybower Reservoir which offers a ‘relatively quiet “there and back” family ride [which] runs along the southern bank of Ladybower reservoir. Taking good, wide tracks, the route undulates along the shore of the reservoir with some lovely views out over the water.’
