One of the great MTB developments in the Sheffield area in the last few years has been the opening of the blue-grade trail in Lady Cannings Plantation in Ringinglow. The world's first crowdfunded MTB trail, the project was first mooted at the formation of Ride Sheffield in 2010 and eventually opened in 2015. It has proven to be incredibly popular as it's great fun to ride whatever your ability level.
But at the minute it's closed until early 2017. <sad face>
Thankfully there are loads of other great trails around Sheffield, and together with our friends at Ride Sheffield we've put together a PDF offering some alternatives to ride over the holiday season. The Blacka Moor route takes in natural trails in the same area as Lady Cannings, while the man-made stuff at Greno Woods and Parkwood Springs is located on the other side of the city. Check out the download link below.
The routes and trails in this PDF feature in our Peak District Mountain Biking guidebook – the successor to our first-ever book Dark Peak Mountain Biking (originally published way back in 2004). We've updated it a few times since then, and in November 2016 we reprinted it and added in various updates and new info – including Lady Cannings, Greno, Parkwood and more.
When Lady Cannings reopens we'll update this PDF to take in Lady C again – watch this space ...
In the meantime, there's 20% off everything on our site until 21 December – what better present for a loved one than Peak District Mountain Biking!
Happy trails and happy Christmas from all at VP.
