Last night was the launch of Andy Kirkpatrick's new book Cold Wars. As with Ron Fawcett's autobiography, and Tony Howard's gripping book about the first ascent of the Troll Wall, Andy's launch was an intimate affair at Outside in Hathersage. Andy is an old hand when it comes to public speaking, and his delivery is quite unique – 'Jerry Lee Lewis on speed' in his own words (but think delivered by machine gun) – and the audience last night was treated to his hilarious stand-up and readings from the book.
